Sunday School is at 9am and the Morning Service is at 10am.
We hope you plan on joining us. Required PPE. Must bring a mask and your own hand sanitizer. We may use an overflow area too. If it is nice out we will leave the doors and windows open some. Must maintain safe distancing. In order to attend you must NOT be sick or recently been sick. Please follow any extra precautions recommended by your doctor.
The service will also be recorded for your convenience, if you can't attend.
For those able to come, please sit with the family your live with and interact with. Pew spacing will be in affect. Offering will NOT be passed, but there will be a place in the back for giving.

VICKSBURG GRACE BRETHREN CHURCH

COMMISSION PURPOSE AND POLICY

Mission Commission


Purpose: The members of the Mission Commission are charged with the responsibility of promoting and publicizing the importance of evangelizing all peoples and ethnic groups, beginning in the local community and extending to the farthest regions of the earth. This will be accomplished by:

  1. Maintaining posters, bulletin boards, and/or other visible displays focusing on local, district, national, and international missionary efforts.
  2. Maintaining correspondence with missionaries which are financially supported by the church.
  3. Promoting and encouraging both prayer and financial support for those mission agencies and/or missionaries which have been officially adopted by the church.
  4. Assuring that current photos and prayer cards of mission agencies and/or missionaries which have been officially adopted by the church are displayed, identified, and available to the congregation.
  5. Assisting the Pastor at his direction in coordinating missionary speakers and/or conferences.
  6. Working in cooperation with the members of the Fellowship Commission in scheduling meals and/or refreshments as opportunities for the congregation to honor and to become better acquainted with visiting missionaries.
  7. Providing information and recommendations to the Pastor, Elders, and the Financial Commission concerning missionary support in preparation for each budget year.

Worship & Music Commission


Purpose: The members of the Worship & Music Commission are charged with the responsibility of assisting the Pastor in promoting and planning worship services which exalt the Lord Jesus Christ. This will be accomplished by:

  1. Assisting the Pastor in planning all aspects of the regular public worship services, as well as special services such as revivals, communion, baptisms, dedications, etc.
  2. Identifying individuals and/or groups within the congregation who have skill in musical performance to provide either vocal or instrumental specials during regular and special worship services.
  3. Scheduling special music for all regular and special worship services.
  4. Assisting the Pastor, Board of Overseers, and Financial Commission in budget preparation by providing notice of special services being planned which may requireparticular financial commitments.

Fellowship Commission


Purpose: The members of the Fellowship Commission are charged with the responsibility of facilitating positive social interactions, promoting wholesome activities, and encouraging a spirit of mutual love and concern among the members of the congregation.  This will be accomplished by:

  1. Planning and promoting a church-wide social activity on a frequent basis.
  2. Planning church-wide meals on an as needed basis in cooperation with requests from other Commissions or from the Pastor and Elders.
  3. Coordinating meals or refreshments following funerals.
  4. Coordinating meals or other help on a short to mid term basis which may be needed by families within the congregation who are experiencing a crisis (e.g. recovery from surgery, extended outpatient treatments, birth of a baby, etc).
  5. Providing information and recommendations to the Pastor, Elders, and the Financial Commission concerning fellowship activities in preparation for each budget year.

Financial Commission


Purpose: The members of the Financial Commission are charged with the responsibility of faithfully and accurately handling the financial responsibilities of the congregation as directed by the Pastor and Board of Overseers. This will be accomplished by:

  1. Maintaining a record of all income from all sources (offerings, interest, investments, special gifts, inheritances, etc).
  2. Maintaining a record of all expenses.
  3. Retaining file copies of all accounts paid including date paid, amount paid, and check or transaction number.
  4. Maintaining complete annual financial archives (offering worksheets, deposit, transfer, and withdrawal slips, periodic bank statements, periodic investment statements, payment authorizations, cancelled checks, and an end-of-year financial report) in a secure location for a period of seven (7) years after which they may be destroyed by some secure method.
  5. Providing a written monthly report summarizing the following:
  6. Checking Account
  7. beginning account balance
  8. all deposits for the current month
  9. all credits for the current month (interest, savings transfers, etc)
  10. all items paid out
  11. ending account balance
  12. Savings Account(s)
  13. beginning account balance
  14. all deposits for the current month
  15. all credits for the current month (interest, etc)
  16. all payouts by type (transfer to other account, etc)
  17. ending account balance
  18. Investment Account(s)
  19. all statements from investment accounts will be provided to the Board of Overseers in the month in which they are received from the investment broker/agency
  20. a copy of each investment statement shall be retained with the monthly financial reports
  21. Providing a written statement of giving to each donor for each calendar year.
  22. Utilizing an accountable reimbursement policy for all expenses.
  23. Utilizing an authorization system for issuing payment for all expenses.
  24. Selecting and training several teams of two individuals each to count the offerings, to fill out the offering worksheet, to fill out the bank deposit slips, and to make the deposit using the night depository bags provided by the bank.
  25. Maintaining a fire-resistant safe in a secure location on the premises of the church where the uncounted or partially counted offerings will be kept until the counting can be completed and the deposit made.
  26. Preparation of the annual budget and submission to the Board of Overseers for approval.
  27. Ensuring continued compliance with all local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations.

Property & Facilities Commission


Purpose: The members of the Property & Facilities Commission are charged with the responsibility of overseeing and maintaining the structures and grounds of the church. This will be accomplished by:

  1. Inspecting the entire premises of the church for signs of deterioration on a quarterly basis and coordinating the repair or replacement of those things found to be in need of attention.
  2. Caring for necessary repairs on an “at need” basis either by performing the work or arranging for others to do so in a timely fashion.
  3. Ensuring that the church and grounds are clean, neat, and safe from potential hazards including snow and ice in the winter months.
  4. Ensuring that the church is decorated appropriately for seasons of the year and/or special holidays such as Christmas and Easter and that other decorations such as pictures and plants are inspected for signs of deterioration and for coordinating their repair or replacement.
  5. Assisting the Pastor, Board of Overseers, and Financial Commission in budget preparation by providing an evaluation of the property and facilities and making recommendations for future improvements, repairs, maintenance, etc.

Christian Education Commission


Purpose: The members of the Christian Education Commission are charged with the responsibility of assisting the Pastor in evaluating and improving, as necessary, the effectiveness of the teaching program of the church. This will be accomplished by:

  1. Planning and/or promoting an annual teacher training seminar for all teachers in all departments.
  2. Maintaining adequate teaching staff and assistant staff for all classes and groups.
  3. Ensuring that anyone appointed to serve as a teacher or assistant is in agreement with the Grace Brethren Fellowship’s Statement of Faith, and is supportive of the local church, its leadership, and its ministry.
  4. Ensuring that all teachers and assistants are aware of the Child Safety Policy and are in compliance with it.
  5. Periodic review of curriculum and teaching materials that are being utilized to be sure they are in compliance with the Grace Brethren Fellowship’s Statement of Faith.
  6. Assisting the Pastor, Board of Overseers, and Financial Commission in budget preparation by evaluating expected costs of curriculum, supplies, seminars, etc., and providing recommendations for the same.
